$1 per Week Dues Begin November 6

Posted by carolecraft on Oct 20 2014 - 9:21pm

Starting November 6, scouts will need to bring in $1 to each troop meeting as part of their dues.

As previously noted, half of the weekly dues will help pay for troop expenses; the other half will be held in the scout's ISA account to be used for camp and scouting gear.

The $1 weekly scout dues will help teach accountability and saving. It will also provide additional responsibilities for patrol leaders and the scribe in collecting and accounting for the weekly monies.

Scouts who miss a week will be expected to bring the $1 for the week(s) missed when they return.

...to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight!

Scouts and Families,

How important is your fitness to you? Don't be left out!  We're looking for 100% participation in the ScoutStrong PALA challenge.

At last week’s meeting I introduced the ScoutStrong program.  It’s a participation program to help us pay a little more attention to how much (or little) we move our bodies on a regular basis.  It also has a dietary component that allows you to set easy dietary goals and work toward them.  As we all know, inactivity and poor eating habits are two of the most physically destructive habits that our society faces.  And EVERYONE can do better.  This program is not about reaching perfection.  This program is about starting good habits and moving in the right direction—from wherever you start.  The winners aren’t the ones that reach certain goals, the winners are the ones that participate.

I’m inviting all the scouts AND their families to participate.  Changing habits is much easier when people work together.  If you have the parents nudging the scout when he doesn’t feel like working, and if you have the scout pushing the parent when they don’t feel like moving, and you have the brothers and sisters all pushing each other, then everyone is more likely to get off the couch…put down the device…and MOVE!

Check out the ScoutStrong folder in the Links at left. Look through the Program Guide, check out the eating and activity guide—or print it to refer to, and print out an Activity Log for each participant in your family.  The program gives you 8 weeks to complete 6 weeks of work (allowing for those days when you are a slacker!).  As a troop, we’ll officially start on 1/18 and wrap it up on 3/14.  However, if you are ready to get going, print off the activity log and get started NOW!  No time like the present.

“On my honor, I will do my best to…keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
